Israel Insider contributor targeted in assassination plot

A contributor to Israel Insider and the Jerusalem Post, businessman and writer Isi Leibler, was the target of a 1975 Palestinian assassination plot, the Jerusalem Post revealed in a report.

Leibler, who frequently contributes analyses and opinions to Israel Insider, says that he learned about the plot only recently from his son and was never informed by the government of Australia, where he was living at the time.

The terrorists had targeted Leibler along with a few other colleagues and friends of his, though the exact cause of the targeting is unclear. However, given that Leibler helped cast Israel in a more prominent and positive light for the Australian government, it is likely that the plot was connected to Leibler's role in Australian-Israeli relations.
