Israel National News reports: Hamas spokesman Abu Abeida said Wednesday that Israel has rejected a plan to release Arab terrorists in exchange for kidnapped soldier Gilad Shalit. Israel, Egypt, and the PA held talks last week to arrange the release of Shalit, and Prime Minister Ehud Olmert initially agreed to the release of over 1,400 terrorists from Israeli prisons.

After Shalit was kidnapped near the Gazan border over six months ago, Olmert refused to negotiate for his release. However, negotiations have recently been taking place, with Hamas demanding the release of 1,500 terrorists and Egyptian officials attempting to secure the release of Egyptian and Lebanese terrorists as well.
