Two Qassams hit Western Negev

Palestinian terrorists fired two Qassams at Israel Friday, hitting the property of a house in Sderot and a kibbutz.

The two Qassams represent the latest Palestinian attempt to fire on Israeli civilian populations -- a war crime according to international law. There have been close to 100 Qassam attacks on Israel in the past few months, most of them occurring during a Palestinian-Israeli ceasefire.

The Israeli Defense Ministry is currently deciding on a rocket and short-range missile defense system to attempt to prevent the attacks. Defense Minister Amir Peretz is expected to make a decision on which system is used, according to a Haaretz report.

Talk of a rocket defense system reflects a wider policy from the government to not take preemptive military action against the terrorist rocket squads but instead to practice a policy of 'restraint'.

Senior IDF officials, and some politicians, have harshly criticized this policy saying it will drastically weaken Israel's defense.
