The Hamas government believes US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice's visit to the Middle East will only aggravate the already tense divide between Palestinians.

Hamas spokesman Ghazi Hamad told The Jerusalem Post, "Rice's visit is aimed at undermining the internal Palestinian front and imposing solutions that serve the interests of Israel." He concluded, "This visit will only deepen divisions and schism among the Palestinians."

Abbas visited King Abdullah in Amman on Saturday and the two leaders discussed the Secretary of State's visit. Abbas sources told The Jerusalem Post that the PA is not overly optimistic about the visit because they "don't believe [Condoleezza Rice] is bringing new ideas."
