An 18 year-old girl was shot and killed at close range in her house Tuesday afternoon by an unknown assailant in the city of Ramla, south of Tel Aviv. The police believe the shooting was an "honor killing" and have arrested several of the girl's first-degree relatives.
Police Commander Yiftah Ducovny said that "an initial investigation revealed that the girl received life threats in the past from family members, and was therefore taken out of her home and moved to a women's shelter. When she turned 18 she decided to return to her family."
About three weeks ago, a mother of two was murdered in front of her children in Ramla, most likely as an "honor killing."
