Amar Damara, a senior member of Fatah's military wing, was arrested by an IDF force in Nablus on Thursday and transferred for questioning in Israel.
Security officials allege that Damara has recently been involved in the manufacturing of explosive belts and in planning suicide bombings against soldiers in the Nablus area and in Israel. According to the sources, Damara and his group members were acting on orders from Hizbullah and from terror operatives in the Gaza Strip.
During the interrogation of security prisoners jailed in Israel it was revealed that Damara planned to launch terror attacks from Nablus, and that he was also behind shooting attacks and the placing of explosive devices against the IDF. Security sources said that the terror infrastructure in Nablus represents one of the gravest threats to Israel in the West Bank.
