In yet another instance of an Arab country's refusal to accommodate Palestinians in any way, Syria has refused entrance to hundreds of Palestinians in danger of being kidnapped or killed by Shiites.
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has begged Iraq to protect hundreds of Palestinians who are currently in no-man's land on the Iraq-Syria border. Understandably, Abbas is fearful that Iraqi Shiites will kill them. The Syrians have refused to grant the Palestinians entry because they claim the Palestinians are not their responsibility.
In other words, it makes no difference to Syria if 700 Palestinians are savagely murdered.
The MEMRI Blog reports:
"The United Nations High Commission for Refugees has drawn attention to the plight of 700 Palestinians who escaped persecution in Iraq and are currently living in the open in the no-man's land on the Iraq-Syria border.
"Syria has refused them entry, arguing that other Arab countries are responsible for accommodating them." |
