Six managers and workers at the Defense Ministry's administration, economy and assets department are suspected of receiving a bribe and benefits from contractors, who were chosen in exchange to carry out electricity and infrastructure works at the ministry.
Police questioned the head of the ministry's infrastructure and electricity system on suspicion of receiving benefits, which included gifts, free restaurant meals and private jobs at his home. Eight contractors were also interrogated.
At first the managers and their assistants were interrogated and confessed to the allegations, according to the police. Later, the police summoned the contractors for questioning. The investigation was held at the police's International Investigations Unit along with Defense Ministry investigators.
After the investigation was completed, the case was handed over to the Tel Aviv Prosecutor's Office.
