Herzl's grave vandalized

The grave plot of the father of modern Zionism, Theodore Herzl, who is buried in Jerusalem, was vandalized over the weekend.

Workers at the Mt. Herzl cemetery were surprised to discover the grave plot of its founder desecrated. Plants were uprooted, and flags of Israel and the World Zionist Organization were found torn.

This was the second such incident to occur in 24 hours, and sources from the site said that it is a recurring problem. However, police complaints were of no help in many cases, and were therefore simply not filed.

"It's not enough that we have to fight anti-Semitism and hatred of Israel all over the world, now we are experiencing it in Israel as well. The vandals did not just harm Herzl's grave, but the whole Zionist ideology," said Chairman of the Executive of World Zionist Organization and the Jewish Agency for Israel, Zeev Bielski.
