Israeli officials over the weekend expressed concern that Russia intends to go through with the sale of its most advanced anti-tank missiles to Syria.
Some Israeli defense planners and intelligence officials believe war with Syria could be less than a year away, following menacing moves and rapid rearming by the Syrian military.
Furthermore, Israel points to the fact that arms sold to Syria in the past were used by Lebanon's Hizbollah in its war against Israel last summer.
The new weapons, which are capable of destroying most armored vehicles, could greatly increase risk to Israel should another conflict with the terror organization break out.
