The Tel Aviv District Court Judge decided Sunday that there was enough evidence to indict billionaire Arcadi Gaydamak, Ynetnews reported.
The Attorney's Office has been trying to collect enough evidence to warrant an indictment against Gaydamak for months, and it now appears that their work was successful.
Last week, the Russian-born billionaire was questioned by police about a forged official document signed by the Justice Ministry sent to Interpol in Russia that accused Gaydamak of posing a threat to Israel.
Judge Uri Shoham also agreed on Sunday to temporarily confiscate $4.9 million as Gaydamak's bail, following the Tel Aviv District Attorney's Office request.
In the decision, Judge Shoham wrote, "I seriously considered the confidential information presented to me, which summarized the testimonies and evidence collected in the affair.
"I reached the conclusion that there is sufficient evidence on which to base a criminal indictment according to Clause 3 of the law," he said. |
