Prime Minister Ehud Olmert temporarily called off the cabinet meeting Tuesday following an angry exchange with Defense Minister Amir Peretz, Haaretz reported.

Olmert had been discussing local authority employees who have not been paid their wages, when Peretz requested permission to speak.

Olmert smugly responded that the subject does not fall under Peretz's responsibilities in an attempt to shut him up.

The Prime Minister told Peretz, "You have to wait patiently. Things are not done here according to your own schedule."

Peretz yelled back, "You are behaving like the only ruler of the state."

Olmert then snapped back, "You will not do whatever you please here, sit quietly."

At this point, Olmert stopped the meeting.
