The Knesset House Committee vote on whether or not to impeach President Moshe Katsav was rejected on Wednesday, Ynetnews reported.
Seven members of the committee voted in favor of the proposal to impeach Katsav, but a majority 19 Knesset members was required for the proposal to be approved.
Four Knesset Members voted against the proposal and 2 abstained.
Six committee members out of 25 were not allowed to take part in the voting, Committee Chairwoman Ruhama Avraham said, because they had missed at least half of the committee meetings.
MK Colette Avital (Labor) said, following the vote, "No one abroad understands what is happening here. The president is making fools of us all."
