Ahmadinejad: Sanctions just 'torn pieces of papers'

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad stated Thursday that no amount of UN sanctions could stop the Islamic nation in its pursuit of nuclear technology, reported Iran's official news agency, IRNA.

Ahmadinejad's remarks took place as a new package of sanctions aimed at deterring Iran's enrichment process is being considered.

"What is the aim of issuing such resolutions?" stated Ahmadinejad, speaking at a rally. "Today we are mastering the nuclear fuel cycle completely."

"If all of you get together and call your ancestors from hell as well, you will not be able to stop the Iranian nation," he declared.

"Issuing such torn pieces of papers... will not have an impact on Iranian nation's will," said Ahmadinejad, as reported by the semi-official news agency, Mehr.

On Wednesday, envoys from six world powers agreed to propose a new package of sanctions against Iran, if approved by their own countries, to be introduced to the Security Council Thursday.
