A would-be Palestinian suicide bomber and ten Egyptians were detained in the Sinai Peninsula according to security officials Thursday.

Palestinian Hamid al-Nador was arrested on a seaside resort in el-Arish wearing an explosive belt.

Egyptian Ahmed Abdel Moaz Mohammed was arrested with al-Nador for alledgedly planning terrorist attacks on Israelis. Nine other Egyptians believed to be part of a militant group were arrested in Rafah, a border city, on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Israeli officials have thus declared a high level of alert on the northern section of the Sinai Peninsula. Many IDF soldiers are currently working in the area to find other security threats.
