If passed by Congress, new legislation could allow Israelis to travel to the US without a visa, the Jerusalem Post reported Wednesday.
Currently Israelis need to attend an interview at the US embassy in Tel Aviv and also pay a fee in order to receive a tourist visa to the US.
This new legislation could include Israel in the visa waiver program, with countries such as Britain, Australia and France, whose citizens don't require visas to enter the US.
Both houses of Congress have proposed different versions of the bill, each permitting Israel's inclusion in the visa waiver program, though the final decision will be made by the Department of Homeland Security.
