Most young Israeli adults believe that the rift between religious and secular Jews in Israel can be bridged, a survey conducted among 10,000 Israelis by TGI revealed.
35 percent of men and 25 percent of women (between the ages of 18 and 35) believe that the differences are beyond repair, Ynetnews reported.
About 55 percent of the respondents want to maintain the boundaries established between state and religion.
Sixty-five percent of those polled said they feel more Israeli than Jewish.
However, a large majority of respondents -- 82 percent of men and 85 percent of women -- believe it is important to maintain Jewish traditions. Almost a third of the respondents (30 percent) said they kiss the mezuzah when they enter and exit a room. |
