The Immigration Absorption Ministry is promoting steps that would make considerable changes in the conversion process in Israel, in an effort to improve the process and increase the number immigrant converts, Ynetnews reported.
Out of some 6,000 immigrants who undertake conversion courses in Israel each year, only 2,000 successfully complete the process and convert.
As part of the reform, a group will be created to manage the conversion schools and religious courts in the country.
Director-general of the Immigration Absorption Ministry, Erez Halfon, has been appointed to run an inter-ministerial committee to explore the possibilities for restructuring the conversion process. |
