A forty-seven year-old man shot to death Tuesday night by masked gunmen who robbed a post office in the northern Israeli city of Safed.

Shimon Farjun was the post office's deputy director and was married with two children.

A Magen David Adom official told Ynetnews that they received a phone call around 6:30 pm saying a man had been shot at the post office.

"Paramedics who arrived at the scene worked diligently to save the man's life, but he was pronounced dead a short while later," Shimon Abitbul, the official, said.

The suspects fled the scene by car soon after the robbery.
