Ramon considers return to politics

Former Justice Minister Haim Ramon will decide whether or not to pursue politics after the Passover holidays, said his associates Thursday.

The Tel Aviv Magistrate's Court decided Thursday to uphold the conviction for indecent conduct of the former justice minister, sentencing him to 120 hours of community service, and ordering him to pay NIS 15,000 to the complainant. The court ruled, however, that the felony charge did not include moral turpitude, thus allowing Ramon to return to public life.

Ramon was convicted of sexual misconduct on January 31. A 20-year-old female IDF soldier charged that Ramon forcibly tried to French kiss her in the Prime Minister's Office.

Ramon said, in his final statement to the court, "I told the police during questioning that I did not act properly, I acted unethically, when I kissed the complainant. Today, again, I am sorry for the act and demand pardon for having harmed the complainant."
