Three men who raped a female IDF soldier in 2005 were given a slap in the wrist by the Beer Sheva District Court on Wednesday when they were sentenced to community service and a fine of $12,180 each.
The charge was reduced from an original rape charge as part of a plea bargain agreement.
Ben Berger, Moshe Saadon and Adir Oknin were soldiers at the time of the incident, which occured during a vacation in Eilat in 2005. They met the female soldier and invited her to their room.
The complainant contends that all three soldiers raped her as another friend watched. The latter was charged with failing to prevent a crime. The men claimed the sex was consensual.
In men were ordered to pay the female soldier $37,000 in compensation and were also given a suspended sentence in addition to the community service. |
