Al-Qaeda in Gaza growing steadily

A Christian bookstore and two internet cafes in the Gaza Strip were bombed on Sunday. The attack was a sign that an al-Qaeda strain of Islam is growing steadily in Gaza.

Incitement, explosions and the vandalizing of internet cafes and music stories are becoming more and more frequent in Gaza.

A Muslim official in Gaza told Ynetnews that many youths are aligning themselves with religious ideologies similar to al-Qaeda's -- the terrorist ideology that calls for jihad against anything and everything that can be deemed a threat to their form of Islam.

These youths most often wear long, baggy tunics over baggy pants and a head covering similar to the worn by Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, who was the head of Al-Qaeda in Iraq until he was assassinated last year.

The official added that many youths turned to groups such as "Swords of Justice" and "Army of Islamic Mujahidin" due to their feeling that Hamas had become too established and structured.

Palestinian and other Arab media has reported recently that Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas was in danger, as are other top PA officials.

Osama Bin Laden and his second-in-command Ayman al-Zawahiri are known to have dubbed Mahmoud Abbas a 'collaborator', and an 'American and Israeli puppet.'
