Meretz-Yahad Chairman MK Yossi Beilin arrived in Hebron Tuesday with the intention examining the interaction between the Jewish and Palestinian residents, Ynetnews reported.
The Jews did not readily welcome Beilin and right-wing activist Baruch Marzel yelled, "Spy, foreign agent! You're pals with Bishara!" in protest of Beilin's visit.
The MK said, "I intend on submitting a bill calling for the evacuation of all Jews from Hebron after the summer break. This is a new settlement, and I have been working to evacuate this deluded group since the night they invaded.
"The only question is whether the Olmert government wants to establish a new settlement in Israel today, in 2007" Beilin said, according to Ynetnews.
The MK began his tour of Hebron in Tel Rumeida, where he met a Palestinian who described the bad treatment he and his family suffer at the hands of the Jewish residents. Then a grocery store owner, whose store is located across near the disputed house that a group have Jews have occupied, told Beilin about the "cruelty and violence" of the residents of the building.
At the entrance of the building a spokesman for the Jews in Hebron, Noam Arnon, said to Beilin, "It was you who brought us the Oslo agreement, you who brought most of the suicide bombers, and you are responsible for all of this suffering."
To this, the left-wing MK responded, "Go home crazies!" |
