A ministerial committee approved a $121.9 million addition to the budget to compensate Gush Katif and northern Samaria evacuees from the 2005 disengagement on Wednesday.

The Union of Gush Katif Residents expressed its gratitude for the decision to increase the budget and added that compensation should also be given to former businesses owners and farmers in Gush Katif.

A separate committee, run by the director-general of the Prime Minister's Office, has been instructed to propose a compensation plan for business owners and farmers by May 16.
