A new study conducted by Dr Michal Finkelstein revealed that a quarter of Ethiopian immigrants to Israel suffer from post-traumatic stress disorder due to trauma connected to their move.
The research, conducted among a representative group of 600 Ethiopian immigrants between the ages of 30-50, studied the way the difficulties of immigration affected immigrants' adaptation to their new surroundings, Ynetnews reported.
The results revealed that 28 percent of the immigrants who arrived in Israel through Sudan in Operation Moses in 1984, 16 percent of those who came during Operation Solomon in 1991, and 27 percent of those who arrived through the family reunification scheme in 1993 were suffering from PTSD.
