Coalition Chairman Avigdor Yitzhaki met Tuesday with other Kadima MKs to discuss the prospect of replacing Prime Minister Ehud Olmert in the wake of the scathing report on the management of the Second Lebanon War, Haaretz reported Tuesday.
Yitzhaki indicated that Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni is his preferred choice for a replacement. The MKs said they believe this means that Yitzhaki had planned the move with Livni.
Foreign Minister Livni is seen as the principal candidate to replace Olmert as the head of Kadima. She was barely addressed in the Winograd report.
Livni has refrained from publicly showing support for the Prime Minister.
