Lieberman to the Ladies, enroute to the Ladies Room: "I'm not leaving."

I covered the cabinet briefing today with the Israeli gov't cabinet sec'y after the government meeting.

During the briefing, a woman reporter excused herself to go to the ladies room.

En route to the ladies room, she encountered Israeli Cabinet Minister Avigdor Lieberman, who had made the statement below, and asked him if his statement meant that he was leaving the government.

Lieberman said "no".

The woman reporter returned from the ladies room and told the other reporters what Lieberman had said.

Another woman reporter, from IDF Radio, then left the briefing room for the ladies room and also caught Lieberman in the hall and asked him if he was leaving the government.

He again said no.

The second reporter returned to the briefing room after her sojourn to the ladies room and again informed the press that Lieberman was not leaving the government.

In the meeting, he said: "Either Hamas is going to be dismantled, or the government is going to be dismantled." "This is not an ultimatum, but these are the options."

The "strategic affairs" minister said the time had come "to stop making declarations and threats, and to engage in hard operations, daring operations, unconventional operations."

He said he was demanding "a total and absolute dismantling [of Hamas], the creation of a completely different situation."

Remarkable about how a brief trip to the restroom can completely improve your confidence in the Olmert government.

Or maybe he was in a rush and had no time for nuances.
