Talk show host and one of the most powerful women in America, Oprah Winfrey, has decided, after being invited by Elie Wiesel, to visit Israel.
The visit was announced by Oprah herself Monday at an event by the Elie Wiesel Foundation for Humanity in which she was being honored for her continual involvement in humanitarian issues.
In a speech made at the event, Oprah expressed her support for Israel's people, and her intention of coming.
Wiesel had asked Oprah to come to Israel, a place where "the major war against terror is currently taking place"
According to Ynetnews, "Israel's UN Ambassador Danny Gillerman, who attended the event, said that a visit of a figure with such influence on the international media could help bring an end to the indifference towards the terror threat faced by Israelis." |
