According to Hamas spokesman Ghazi Hamad, Alan Johnston, a BBC reporter that was captured on March 12 in Gaza, could be freed in the near future.
"According to my analysis, I think it's possible to release him. I hope to make it very, very fast," stated Hamad at the Hay literary festival in Wales
"I know that he is well and healthy and in a good situation," Hamad continued. "No one has tried to harm him or hurt him."
Johnston was captured at gunpoint in Gaza City on March 12. A group called the Army of Islam claims to be responsible for the capture, and is demanding that the UK release Muslim prisoners.
The international community has called continuously for Johnston's release.
"I think there are continuous efforts to release him," stated Hamad. "We hope we can do it very, very soon." |
