An Israel Defense Forces soldier was moderately wounded and three Palestinian gunmen killed Wednesday as IDF troops entered the southern Gaza Strip.

One of the dead militants was from the Popular Resistance Committees and two from Hamas.

At least seven other Palestinians were wounded in the shootout. Later Wednesday, the Israel Air Force struck Palestinian rocket launch sites in the Gaza Strip, the first air strike since Hamas seized control of the territory last week.

Gaza militants earlier fired at least one Qassam rocket into Israel, the army said.
