A baby was wounded by shrapnel and her mother and grandmother suffered from shock when a Qassam rocket fired from the Gaza Strip hit their home south of Ashkelon Monday.
All three were evacuated to a nearby hospital. Israeli media showed photographs of baby's smashed cot while reporting that the al-Quds Brigades, the Islamic Jihad's military wing, claimed responsibility for the attack.
According to an Islamic Jihad spokesman, the attack was in response to "Israel's crimes in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip."
The strike came after a number of Qassam rockets were fired from Gaza Sunday at the western Negev, lightly injuring one woman.
