A potentially devastating terror attack was prevented Saturday night when an Israel Air Force missile attack struck two cars in Gaza, one of which was packed with suicide bombing belts and other explosives.
According to the IDF, two Palestinians were killed, including one Islamic Jihad operative, and 21 others were wounded in the attack near Rafah Crossing in the Gaza Strip. Three of those wounded were also Islamic Jihad operatives, who are reportedly in serious condition.
The IDF said that the car was planning to carry out a massive terror attack against Israelis.
Islamic Jihad confirmed that some of its members were in at least on of the vehicles hit in the strike.
Witnesses reported that after the attack, one of the cars hit, a pickup truck, emitted several blasts, indicating that it could have been full of explosives.
Islamic Jihad claimed responsibility for a Qassam attack on Sderot that occurred shortly before the IAF strike. It is not clear if the rocket launchers were the ones hit in the strike.
