Vandals desecrated 100 gravestones in Poland's largest Jewish cemetery in the southern city of Czestochowa, spray painting swastikas, the letters SS, and "Jews Out" in German in big black letters. Polish police say the crime, which is the first of its kind in a long time, is of "hooligan nature," the Jerusalem Post reported.
"This is one of the biggest acts of destruction in years," said Jan Gebert, spokesman for the Jewish community in Warsaw. "In fact, I can't think of any other cases in Europe that have been this big."
Today there are estimated to be 30,00 Jews in Poland.
