Tens of thousands of adults who survived the Holocaust as children intend to launch a class action lawsuit against the German government demanding compensation for their destroyed childhoods, Ynet reported.
Today approximately 250,000 survivors who were children until the age of 15 during the war are alive today. Many were orphaned, having lost their entire families, and grew up in Israel and various nations all over the world.
"Among other things we intend to sue them for the orphanhood we suffered. These are people whose childhoods were abruptly and cruelly severed and their development suffered as a result. Many were unable to rejoin society after the war and found it difficult to provide for themselves and their families," said Yochanan Ron, a senior official on Yesh's board.
"It is absurd that the families of the murderers are cared for while the victims are forgotten," said Ron.
