Israelis were among those killed when a passenger plane attempted to land in heavy rain at an airport on Thailand's tourist island on Sunday, the Jerusalem Post reported, citing the Phuket's Deputy Governor Worapot Ratthaseema.
Phuket's Beit Chabad representative, Rabbi Aharon Solomon, told news outlets that five Israelis registered on the flight were not found in Thai hospitals where the evacuated survivors were being treated.
88 people out of 128 passengers aboard the flight, were confirmed dead and 40 people were still missing.
"The visibility was poor as the pilot attempted to land. He decided to make a go-around but the plane lost balance and crashed," Major General Deecha Butnamphet, police chief in Phuket, said. "It was torn into two parts."
"We believe that there are many people who are dead. We are taking the dead and injured out from the scene," he continued.
