According to ABC, Israel had obtained detailed photographs from inside the Syrian nuclear facility before bombing it in an air strike on September 6.
A senior US official, who requested anonymity, told the news network over the weekend that Israeli intelligence had learned over the summer that Syria was building a nuclear facility. Israel then either had an operative infiltrate the site or convinced a worker to provide Israel with information, the Jerusalem Post reported.
The International Atomic Energy Agency indirectly criticized the US and Israel for the operation, saying that the agency "expects any country having information about nuclear-related activities in another country to provide that information to the IAEA."
