Prime Minister Ehud Olmert met with French President Nicolas Sarkozy on Monday to discuss the Israeli-Palestinian peace process, Iran's nuclear ambitions and the upcoming Mideast summit in Annapolis, the Jerusalem Post reported.
France urged Israel to use its creativity and make "some gestures" in negotiations with the Palestinian Authority. However the president's spokesman, David Martinon, refused to comment in detail on the content of the talks.
"It would really be extremely counterproductive that I, the French president's spokesman, talk about the proposals that this side or that could make in the course of this negotiation," he said.
