Barak gives OK to cut off electricity to Gaza in response to Qassams

Defense Minister Ehud Barak approved on Thursday a list of civilian sanctions against the Gaza Strip that will be imposed in accordance with the number of Qassams and mortar shells fired by militants at Israel.

The move is part of ongoing efforts to combat the increasing as a means to combat the increasing rocket and mortar attacks against Israel's civilian population in towns on the periphery of Gaza.

According to the plan, Israel will cut off electricity for increasing lengths of time each time a Palestinian rocket is fired into Israel, according to the Jerusalem Post. It is still unclear when the plan will go into effect.
