Palestinian violence killed 44% fewer Israelis in 2004

According to information supplied by the Israel Defense Forces, the number of Israeli civilian deaths from Palestinian terror attacks and soldiers killed in the territories dropped by 44 percent in 2004 relative to the previous year.

In 2004, a118 Israelis were killed as a result of Palestinian violence, down from 212 in 2003.

The IDF attributed the reduction in casualties to improved terror-fighting techniques, especially the erection of the separation fence, and improved cooperation between the military and the Shin Bet security services.
