Published: January 4, 2005

Voice of Palestine radio reported Tuesday night that the Fatah al-Aksa Martyrs' Brigade had abducted an IDF officer and a soldier in the area of Ma'aleh Adumim.

The IDF is running an emergency personnel check and could not confirm the report. But the army has reinforced troops and checkpoints in the area.

IDF officials said that reports of an abduction were received around 8:20 p.m. and security forces were immediately deployed.

According to the Jerusalem Post, The Voice of Palestine reported the abduction after someone called the radio station claiming to have information on a kidnapped IDF officer and soldier.

An army source said that there is no evidence that the reports of an abduction are accurate.
