Tobin: U.S. extremists set the agenda on church-state debate

Does the allocation of federal funds to religious organizations threaten fundamental freedoms? Jonathan Tobin, writing from the City of Brotherly Love, champions common sense and tolerance to avoid the escalation of apocalyptic rhetoric to destructive excesses.

He writes, in the public domain, in 75 words or less: "so long as we allow extremists on either the left or the right to dominate the constitutional debate, the rest of us are left looking on in dismay as our society's basic constitutional consensus in favor of religious liberty is assaulted from both ends of the spectrum."

Say Amen, brother.
