A Netanya resident was moderately wounded when an explosive device attached to his car detonated this morning. Police believe the incident was criminally motivated.
The explosion occurred when Ya'akov Aberjil, 43, started his car which was parked outside his house. He was rushed to the Beilinson Hospital in Petah Tikva, where his burns and shrapnel wounds were treated.
Police arrived at the scene of the explosion and launched an investigation into the attack's target who has allegedly been linked to underworld feuds in the Netanya region, despite the fact that he is not a member of a known crime family.
For example, Aberjil is a friend of Yoram El-Al, a known Netanya criminal who fled Israel for South Africa last year after also being targeted in a booby trapped car explosion.
