The IDF suspected that extremist settlers may have been responsible for the thefts, in an attempt to stockpile ammunition in order to carry out a terror attack against Arabs.

The IDF Central Command decided to evacuate the army post at Yitzhar several months ago, following a series of conflicts between residents of the settlement and paratrooper units stationed to protect them. The incidents peaked during the evacuation of the Shalhevet outpost, near Yitzhar.

However, it now appears there were other reasons for the evacuation...
