The Counter Terrorism Headquarters at the Prime Minister's Office on Thursday cautioned Israelis not to visit Egypt, particularly the Sinai peninsula, saying there were concrete warnings of terror attacks against Israeli travelers there.

"Lately the threats of terror against Israelis in Sinai have become more serious," said the travel warning, posted on the Prime Minister's Office Web site.

Some 9,000 Israelis had entered Sinai by Friday morning, and an additional 3,000 were lined up at the Taba border crossing, waiting to get in. About twice as many Israelis are spending the Jewish holiday of Shavuot in Sinai as last year.
