The Palestinian Authority executed four Palestinians convicted of murder Sunday.

One of those executed was also suspected of cooperating with Israel.

Three of them faced a firing squad, while the fourth was hanged.

The convicted Palestinians were sentenced to death several months ago after PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas transferred their files to PA Mufti Sheikh Ikrama Sabri.

They were executed following immense pressure applied by the victims' families, who demanded the PA carry out the verdict. In the past some family members attempted to infiltrate the Gaza prison where the suspects were being held in a bid to kill the suspects themselves on grounds the PA was stalling the court's decisions.

Notably, more than 40 Palestinians have been executed recently -- some for murder, and others for cooperating with Israel.
