The decision was made by police, town and Maccabiah officials, after dozens of Qassam rockets were fired at the town in recent days.
Mark Spitz, who won seven gold medals in the 1972 Olympic Games, was scheduled to give swimming lessons Sunday to 100 children in Sderot in an act of solidarity with the town.
Summer camp activities in Sderot were also cancelled on Sunday, the town's deputy mayor, Yossi Cohen, told Israel Radio.
