Former chief rabbis Avraham Shapira, Mordechai Eliyahu and Shas' Ovadia Yosef joined the protestors at an evening prayer rally at the Western Wall plaza.
Police said they did not expect any "unusual incidents" at the prayer rally, but beefed up their presence in the area. They closed off streets around the Old City of Jerusalem in a bid to keep cars away from the area.
Police are also preparing for other right-wing protest events set for this week, including a large anti-disengagement rally set for Thursday at Rabin Square in Tel Aviv.
