Housing Minister Isaac Herzog has requested an additional NIS 24 million from Prime Minister Ariel Sharon in order to build and renovate public buildings in communities preparing to absorb evacuees from the Gaza Strip.

Herzog told the prime minister that severe tensions may arise between newcomers and veterans if inadequate funds are allocated to the building of proper infrastructure.

Money is lacking for, among other things, kindergartens, youth clubs, rituial baths and swimming pools.
