In an interview with a senior IDF official, the Jerusalem Post reported that the government intends to dismantle all of the unauthorized West Bank settlements in the next 3 months after the disengagement from Gaza and four north Samarian settlements.
The official said it was important to, "strike while the iron is still hot" with the "momentum" the army has gotten from the Disengagement Plan.
The "illegal outposts", of which 24 were built under Sharon's government since 2001, have been a ripple in relations with the US and Europe. In recent months, the US has applied pressure about dismantling the unauthorized settlements. |
