Supporters of preserving the Gaza synagogues are turning to Kofi Annan, the UN secretary in NY to get behind their cause, as well as contacting the Vatican and a senior Muslim leader in Gaza, ahead of the hearing scheduled before the High Court of Justice imminently.
Sunday morning at the weekly Knesset meeting, the cabinet ruled on rebuilding two synagogues in Slav and Tel Katifa and destroying the 20 others. Hours later, the High Court decreed a temporary injunction to prevent the razing of the synagogues until the judges rule on the petition filed against the plan.
